He has been battling with Hep C and Cirrhosis of the liver for a few years now. In April, he began to have pain in his gallbladder and went to the hospital. It was discovered that he had a stone and the doctor who treated him decided on surgery to be the best option for him. The surgery was a complete and utter failure. It has only accelerated his liver condition to the point that now it no longer works.
In our family, he is the jokester, the one who lifts your spirits when your down, and an ear to listen when you're done. He is the youngest son on my grandfathers side and # 4 on my grandmothers. His sense of humor and personality have always been that of a jokester. It has been hard to watch him deteriorate in the manner in which he has.
As a family unit, we have been to the hospital on a daily basis to take care of him, bathe him, feed him and anything else that is necessary to do in order to ensure that he has a good quality of life with what he has left. We aren't sure on when he will pass, though at this point it is inevitable.
To my Tio Jorge, "El Gordo", I want you to know that I love you unconditionally and will miss you terribly. I'm so grateful for the time that I was able to have you in my life. And all the memories we made together. You will be in my heart always. I will miss you everyday and think of you often. Te quiero gordo descarado y hasta q nos volvemos a ver.
