Thanksgiving weekend

Normal when you read the tile of this post you think of the wonderful food we all eat on Thanksgiving. The turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole and lets not forget the cranberry sauce. This Thanksgiving however marks the first one without my uncle. Which if you've been following my posts past just 2 months ago.

So with that being said let us jump into the way the holiday went. For the most part it wasn't all that bad. I went over to my mother in laws for lunch then had dinner with my family. This was also the first Thanksgiving for my 3 month old niece. (Who by the way stoled the show). She looked quite adorable in her white organza dress.

For someone who usually gets excited for this time of year, I felt that I was just going through the motions without actually having enjoying myself. Black Friday I partook in my yearly tradition of looking for the best deals available. I was able to snag some great gifts for Christmas though I'm still missing a few individuals.

Saturday Roy and I had a wedding to attend for a friend of his. Roy was also a groomsman so it was a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon. All was well during the ceremony until one of the choir singers began to sing "Ave Maria". Rewind to just a month ago when we had the church mass in honor of my uncle where my aunt's cousin, upon one of my uncle's request, sang "Ave Maria". Since this was a wedding I knew that crying wouldn't have been looked at badly though more as a sign joy for the bride and groom. However, I also knew that my tears would not be of joy for them but for the sorrow still in my heart and mind. With that said, I made a conscious effort NOT to cry with the excuse that I would ruin my make up. Even though that was a bit in vain it did the trick. The reception was beautiful, and the atmosphere was great. The DJ played great music and when it was all done we were home and tucked in our bed by 11:00pm.

Sunday was girls day. My sister, best friend and I went out for coffee and conversations to catch up on each others events from the weekend and just enjoy some time with each other. In the evening the bride and groom had invited us over to their hotel suite to spend the evening with them. Having no further plans Roy and I went and enjoyed the amazing view from their balcony which over looked the pool area of the Fountainbleau Hotel and the beach.

All in all the weekend wasn't a reck though thoughts of my uncle were never fair from my mind. Having "survived" holiday # 1 of 3, I'm slowly looking forwarded to see how we as a family cope with Christmas and New Year's.
